PUERTO MALDONADO - MADRE DE DIOS RIVER - JUNGLE TREK
PARROT LICK COLLPA
PUERTO MALDONADO, is one of the places hidden away in the jungle of Madre de Dios, where will find that rivers are the main highways of the jungle, where the weather is hot and where rain is more than welcome as it brings a quiet and comfortable relief from the heat. Here the spoken language is not quechua as in the Andes, but different native dialects, being understood only by the people born in these areas.
During this short tour we will have a small introduction and sample of what the jungle has to offer, staying at a lodge within the jungle, being able to hear all the marvelous sounds of animals and insects during the night and also in the early hours of the morning.
The parrot collpa is one of the simplest and most natural of experiences during the early morning hours, where you can see with your own eyes thousands of multi colored parrots fly down to eat red clay that is found by the riverside, to counteract certain fruits that they eat during the day that might not be ripe.
