CUZCO, Imperial City whose origins go back to Pre-Inca times and who later sheltered the grand pre-Hispanic city of Cuzco when the great Inca Pachacutec expanded his powerful empire, turning into the capital Tahuantinsuyo.
Nowadays this marvelous magical city, of such a glorious past warmly welcomes its guests showing you the grandeur of the past, from the cobblestone streets, the beautiful Cathedral, constructed upon the walls of Kiswarkancha, so you can see how there has been a constant mixture of Inca and Hispanic culture.
THE LOST CITY OF MACHU PICCHU, of spectacular and uncomparable beauty, is essentially an immense sample of the ancient genius of the Incas. In it, nature blends into the architecture and architecture blends into nature forming a marvelous combination, the huge carved and molded stones and the warm beautiful vegetation of the area that surrounds Machu Picchu make those who visit it never be able to forget it. Another great example of the Incas genius are the beautiful cobblestone streets that you find throughout the city as you stroll through it, during the city tour we will see the surprising architecture of Sacsaywaman fort, located in the higher part of Cuzco city.
Valle Sagrado (Sacred Valley) was the area where the Inca mastered the very best systems to grow their crops, introducing a system of staggered terraces, that are still used to this day. We will visit two of the most important craft markets in Valle Sagrado, Pisac and Chincheros, people here continue to knit and weave the famous Alpaca articles of very good quality. The friendly and typical town of Aguas Calientes is the right spot to have a marvelous evening in any one of its small and cozy restaurants.
The advantage of sleeping over in Aguas Calientes is that we can visit Machu Picchu twice, the first when we arrive from Cuzco, together with the guide who will accompany us showing us the fantastic ruins, and then the next day but without the guide, being able to go very early in the morning, practically before dawn before other tourists arrive, you can go up Huayna Picchu and take panoramic photo shots of marvelous places walking along many hidden paths, feeling the same sensation as the discoverer of Machu Picchu must have felt in 1911.
